Tassal is Australian for Seafood
Our home is Tasmania, a beautiful island with a rich maritime history where our ambition to produce healthy, fresh Atlantic salmon began more than 35 years ago. From humble beginnings, we are Australia’s largest producer of Tasmanian grown Atlantic salmon. We have proudly introduced Tiger Prawns and Ocean grown Barramundi to our operations.
Tassal produces delicious, healthy, responsibly sourced Aussie seafood to nourish a growing population. As responsible seafood producers, we care about the welfare and quality of our fish, prawns and barramundi, the environment in which we operate, the local communities and our passionate people.
Salmon, barramundi and prawn feed is formulated by aquatic nutritionists and contains vitamins minerals and no growth hormones.

ASSOCIATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Tassal hold certifications with these recognised organisations, providing assurance that we are committed to farming responsibly and that our farming practices are assessed by third parties.
We are members of organisations and associations, such as the Global Salmon Initiative (GSI), Seafood Industry Australia (SIA), Salmon Tasmania, Australian Prawn Farmers Association (APFA) and Australian Barramundi Farmers Association (ABFA).
In March 2024, Tassal was awarded the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) Above and Beyond Award and employee Blake Newell won the Young Person in Aquaculture Award. This is the third year Tassal has received awards recognising our contribution and commitment to responsible aquaculture.
How we care about our people and communities
It is important to keep our people connected and embracing the same set of business values, from our operation in Dover, far south of Tasmania to Cone Bay, Western Australia and to Mission Beach in tropical North Queensland.
Tassal has a long history of supporting local communities in Tasmania, and many of our operations are in remote or regional areas, where our people both live and work. We have extended our community engagement and support commitments to include our Prawns and Barramundi communities.
